Abstract

Pastoral care in hospitals can be enhanced by the use of trained volunteer lay people from a variety of backgrounds. God can use all these different personalities as a channel of His love and grace to the sick, injured, and their families. This article summarizes the chaplain's role with initial preparation, training, coordination, and recognition and support of such volunteers.
