Abstract

The superparamagnetic nano-α-FeOOH samples for Radar Absorber Material (RAM) have been synthesized using a facile precipitation method at 40°C. The characterizations of nano-α-FeOOH have been determined using X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Vector Network Analyzer (VNA), and Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM). Microwave absorber properties have been investigated at an X-band frequency range of 8-12 GHz. In order to obtain the minimum reflection loss at the desired frequency range, several thickness variations were used: 0.5, 1 and, 2 mm. It was found that the increase in the thickness of the absorber could shift the reflection loss to the lower frequency at the range of 11-12 GHz. The result shows that the effective frequency band of the absorber occurs at 11.740 GHz with -31.190 dB reflection dip with a matching thickness of 1 mm.
