Abstract

A case of supernumerary incisiform tooth in the left half of the mandible of a red deer stag is decribed. The hyperodontia is assumed to have resulted from splitting of the primordium of either the left I3 or the lower left canine. The occurrence of this dental anomaly is taken as an occasion to briefly review the literature on supernumerary incisiform teeth in cervids.
