Abstract

Superfluidity plays an important role in the physics of neutron stars. In order to make precise predictions about its effects on the star one has to know the magnitude of the gap in various density regions of nuclear matter. Here the superfluid gap is studied in the 1 S 0 channel for neutron-neutron pairing and in the coupled 3 S 1 — 3 D 1 channels for neutron-proton pairing. Numerical results are given for several densities and several asymmetries of nuclear matter.
