Abstract
Hot corrosion of Ti3Al, Ti3Al-Nb, and TiAl intermetallic compounds in the presence of (Na, K)2SO4 salts film at 900 and 950° was studied. It is shown that hot corrrosion of Ti3Al, Ti3Al-Nb and TiAl alloys did really occur, and a protective Al2O3 barrier couldn't form on the alloys surface. The addition of Nb to Ti3Al could greatly improve its hot corrosion resistance. The corrosion resistance of TiAl is superior to that of Ti3Al, and Ti3Al-Nb.
