Abstract

In this paper, a study of suitable configuration of advanced static var compensator (ASVC) for power transmission application has been carried out. The suitability of an ASVC configuration is primarily judged from the harmonic generation point of view. The possibility of employing different switching scheme, like pulse width modulation (PWM) switching technique in ASVC for reduction in harmonic generation has also been investigated. All of the studies have been carried out through detail digital dynamic simulation using the PSCAD/EMTDC software.
