Abstract

A successive iteration method is proposed to evaluate the average values, in inhomogeneities and a surrounding matrix, of the disturbances due to the inhomogeneities in an otherwise uniform stress field. The disturbances are reproduced by the field of the equivalent problem where the field is caused by the (elastically uniform) inclusions with equivalent eigenstrains. The method consists of the following procedures: First, the stress disturbance in a single representative inhomogeneity is evaluated. Next, the contribution of the other inhomogeneities is taken into account by considering that the representative inhomogeneity feels the additional field by the other inhomogeneities. These processes are repeated.
