Abstract

The latest scenario of life’s origin is introduced. Terrestrial organisms are proposed to have been abiogenetically brought into existence on earth about 4 billion years ago, using organic compounds in seawater. Organic compounds could have formed abiotically in both terrestrial and extraterrestrial environments and then become pooled in a primordial sea. Submarine hydrothermal vents are considered to be ideal sites for abiogenic synthesis of the organic compounds preserved to the present day and a possible environment for chemical evolution toward the origin of life in the Archean ocean.
