Abstract

1. trans-Styryl(triphenylphosphine)gold was obtained. 2. The conversion of trans-styryl(triphenylphosphine)gold to the cis isomer proceeds much more easily than in the case of mercury compounds. 3. The reaction of trans-styryl(triphenylphosphine)gold with iodine and mercuric bromide, respectively, gives trans-iodostyrene and trans-styrylmercury bromide.
