Abstract
There are many royal states ever been established in this region, spread across the Nusantara archipelago from northern Sumatra to inland Papua, since its early history. However, beside of their various sizes, Indonesian ancient royals having various model of governmental system which is featured in its bureaucratic structure. As the artifact of ancient human organization, the ancient royal bureaucracies is emerging structures that represent how the people organizing their life as an attempt to fit with its environment as well as their cognitive concept about power. In this work, we outline a network analytical framework for the study the ancient bureaucracies and showing some empirical finding related to network characteristic of Indonesian ancient royal bureaucracies. However, by suggest some interesting direction for further research; we open the door for the study of ancient royal government in more quantified way that can be giving new insight to governmental studies.
