Abstract

Objective To analyze the causes of evisceration,and to study the results and features of hydroxyapatite (HA) implantation.Methods Retrospectively study the patients underwent the evisceration and with the primary surgery of HA implantation.Results Sixty-one patients with the operation of evisceration and HA implantation were:48 (78.7%) cases of ocular trauma,such as severe eyeball rupture and endophthalmitis,4 (6.5%) of infective corneal ulcer,2 (3.3%) of absolute glaucoma,4 (6.5%) of side-effect of surgery and 3 (5%) of cornea staphyloma.Fifty-five cases of patients were younger than 60 years old.All the patients had good results without severe side effect.Conclusions Most of the patients underwent with evisceration and HA implantation is severe ocular trauma such as the eyeball rupture.The safety during the traffic and working should be emphasized to avoid and reduce the severe ocular trauma.The results of severe ocular trauma should be improved.
