Abstract
Skid resistance is an important index of pavement performance, and it is also an important basis for pavement construction and maintenance. Only the pavement with good skid resistance performance can provide sufficient grip so that the vehicle has good braking and driving force. Therefore, the correlation analysis was used to research the five skid resistance test methods in the study, to improve the test accuracy of skid resistance. Based on the tests on the laboratory and field test of six in German test tracks, the conclusions are presented: (1) Different test methods have different sensitivity factors. Therefore, each test method has its advantages and disadvantages. (2) The skid resistance test mechanism of equipment can be divided into optical sensing and tyre-pavement friction. Therefore, different equipment should be combined use. (3) Polishing of pavement texture is the premise of deterioration of skid resistance. So, texture testing is considered the most important and the friction coefficient test is secondary in the skid resistance test. (4) SFC is an irreplaceable field test method, but the laboratory test can simulate by W/S. It is suggested that W/S could be used to test the influence of multi-factor coupling on pave-ment skid resistance.
