Abstract

The motion and deformation of water droplets on the surface of silicone rubber insulator will distort the distribution of electric field and even cause flashover along the surface. This paper studies the droplets movement on insulator surface under AC and DC field in wet environment. In this paper, the electrical and hydrodynamic problems involved in multi-physical field coupling are modeled and analyzed by using simulation software COMSOL, and an experimental platform for movement of droplets is built. The motion laws of droplets under AC and DC electric field are studied. The results show that the motion forms of droplets vary with the increase of AC electric field intensity, eight motion forms are defined and analyzed in this paper; the recovery phenomenon of droplets under DC emerges and an explanation is given based on experiments.
