Abstract

Objective To evaluate the effect of stress inoculation training (SIT) on the level of anxiety in patients undergoing repaired THA. Methods 36 patients with moderate anxiety receiving repaired THA divided into experiment group and control group. SIT was provided for the patients in experiment group, while routine health education provided for those in control group. Then the patients' level of anxiety was evaluated and compared between the two groups before and after operation. Results The patients' level of anxiety in experiment group was significantly lower than that of control group before and after operation ( t =9. 653,17.732, respectively, P < 0. 05). Conclusions Stress inoculation training could reduce the level of anxiety in patients undergoing repaired THA, which could be identified as the routine method of pre-operational psychological nursing. Key words: Psychological nursing; Repaired THA; Inoculation training
