Abstract

In this paper, the application of SMES system in the electrical multiple unit (EMU) was studied. With a new type of SMES rectifier and its novel control strategy, the EMU could immune through the over-phase region from the power off. The overvoltage impact on the related equipment due to the frequent power switch could also be reduced. With the combination of the DQ current decoupling control and transient direct control, the output power quality of the motor train grid side was obviously improved and the voltage adjustment time was significantly improved. The grid side harmonic was also suppressed, and the harmonic content was obviously reduced. All advantages on the dynamic response abilities presented above had been verified by the simulation and test results in this paper.
