Abstract
Eucalyptus veneers were applied to fabricate multi-layer plywood with soy-based adhesives as the glue. Prior to optimization, single-factor experiments were performed to select the proper range of each factor. Furthermore, effects of adhesive amount, hot-pressing time, hot-pressing pressure, and hot-pressing temperature were investigated via response surface methodology (RSM). Through RSM optimization, optimum hot-pressing conditions were obtained. To verify the optimized conditions, validation test was carried out. The result presented that the error rate between the predicted value and the measured value was 1.2%, which was reasonable for prediction.
