Abstract

According to Bingham rheological model, the paper describes the technique of hydraulic power transmission based on the Magnetorheological fluid (MRF). As we all know, the MRF is an intelligent material, and it is used as the medium by which the power and signal can pass. Therefore, utilizing rheological behavior of MRF, the rheological state and viscosity of MRF can be directly modulated by electromagnetism field to control the speed, move direction and pressure of hydraulic system. We can gain an intermediate drive -control mode, which possesses many advantages such as: super stability, accurate precision, fine reliability, cheap cost and quick response and so on. It can overcome a series of disadvantages of the traditional hydraulic power transmission system. In addition, the paper introduces the operation principle of MRF power transmission, and researches the working performance and the fundamental factors that affect the properties of MRF by modeling and simulation. Finally, the paper explores theory and method of optimum design for MRF power transmission.
