Abstract

A method of surface modification of nano ZrO2 particles was studied. Iron was coated on the surface of nano ZrO2 particles by high-energy ball mill and mechanically activated to improve the wettability between nano particles and metals, prevent the agglomeration of ZrO2 particles in liquid steel, refine grains and improve the mechanical properties of steel. Compared with the casting with ZrO2 particles, the grain size of the sample with modified ZrO2 particles is reduced by 127.43%, and the yield of ZrO2 particles is increased by 240.42%. The distribution of modified ZrO2 particles in liquid steel is more uniform, and the grain refinement effect is more obvious.
