Though many researches have already indicated that compact urban layout is the most essential factor to reduce automobile usage, the statistical relationship between characters of residential area and residents' automobile usage pattern has not investigated yet. This study aims to seize factors that affect gasoline consumption at residential zoning scale. National Person-trip Survey data with about 57, 000 samples is adopted for analysis.
