Abstract

Nowadays, the indoor positioning becomes a hot topic. The accuracy is necessary to be study in order to design the positioning system. In this paper, the accuracy of min-max method is studied using distance error model for indoor positioning. The estimated distance is evaluated from distance error model by using the received signal strength (RSS) with indoor channel consists of path loos and multipath fading models. After that, the estimated distance is used with min-max method to estimate the position of receiver and calculate the distance error. The distance error of each position is illustrated. The distance error with specific path loss exponent and standard deviation of multipath fading effect is shown and studied in the terms of probability density function (PDF) and cumulative distribution function (CDF). The results show that the distance error is low at position near transmitter, slightly increased as the path loss exponent decreases and significantly increased as the deviation of multipath fading effect increases.
