Abstract

In order to establish whether any change occurs in the electronic structure during the first-oder antiferromagnetic to ferromagnetic transition in FeRh taking place between the temperaturesT 1=300 °K andT 2=373 °K, the angular correlation of γ-ray pairs arising from positron annihilation was measured in both phases. The angular correlation functions obtained at the two temperatures do not show any significant difference. This result is inconsistent with the theory explaining as due to excess electron entropy the difference between the entropy change measured during the transition and that calculated from the change in the lattice parameter.
