Abstract

The reactions dp → dpπ+π− and np → ppπ− are studied by means of a deuteron beam of 11.9 GeV/c incident momentum. In the first reaction, the d* effect and resonance production are discussed for the two-pion coherent production and the results are compared with available coherent pd and\(\bar p\)d data. The np → ppπ− reaction is dominated by peripheral production of a low-mass pπ− enhancement at the neutron vertex and is well described by a one-pion exchange model. The differential cross-sections of the reactions np → (pπ−)p and n\(\bar p\) → (pπ−)\(\bar p\) are compared.
