Abstract

Secretomotor fibres for salivation and lacrimation run in close proximity to the facial nerve, hence quantitative estimation of salivation and lacrimation may prove to be of prognostic significance in lesions involving the facial nerve. All electrodiagnostic tests require sophisticated expensive and difficult to handle equipment, which is not easily available in our country. Assessing lacrimatory and salivatory flow is easy and may prove to be of prognostic value.
