Abstract

Objective To analyze the clinical application value of Photopic Negative Response (PhNR) in amblyopia. Methods PhNR was recorded and analyzed from 60 normal eyes and 60 amblyopia eyes by using red flashes on a blue background. Results Amplitudes of PhNR in amblyopia were lower than those of the normal group, there were statistically significant differences between them.Latencies of PhNR in amblyopia were similar to normal group, there were no statistically significant differences between them.In normal group, amplitudes of PhNR of ≥12 year older age group were lower and latencies were longer compared with <12 years low group, there was statistically significant difference. Conclusions Amplitudes of PhNR in amblyopia are lower than those of the normal group, and the function of retinal ganglion cells of amblyopia is damaged.Amplitudes of PhNR decrease with age, latencies of PhNR delay with age, these suggest that PhNR is significantly associated with age. Key words: Amblyopia; PhNR (Photopic Negative Response); Retinal ganglion cells
