Abstract

Objective To study the characteristic differences in CTs and MRIs between intracranial hemangiopericytoma (HPC) and meningioma. Methods 16 cases of HPC and 45 cases of meningioma approved by pathology were selected. All cases underwent MRIs,MR enhancements,DWIs,and CT scans before operation. The MRI and CT finding indexes of tumors between the two groups were analyzed statistically with the x2 test. Results Tumors with lobulated shape (x2 =22.895),necrotic or cystic changes (x2 =15.959),blood vessel flow void phenomenon (x2 =8.058),and obvious enhancements (x2 =7.942) showed remarkably significant statistical differences (P < 0.01) between HPC and meningioma. The skull had no hyperplasia near the tumor (x2 =4.821)and isointense and hypointense signal on DWI (x2 =5.272)showed statistically significant differences (P < 0.05).Dural tail sign (x2 =3.816) and tumor calcification (x2 =0.499) showed no statistically significant differences (P > 0.05).Conclusion There were differences between the CT and MRI findings of HPC and meningioma. It is helpful to improve the level of both CT and MRI diagnosis and clinical diagnosis and treatment through comparative analysis of the findings.
