Abstract

Dy3+ doped CaLa1−xNbMoO8 (x=0.02, 0.025, 0.03, 0.035, 0.05, 0.075) phosphors were synthesized using a high temperature solid state method. Powder XRD results confirm the tetragonal phase and detailed investigations on the photoluminescence properties indicated that Dy3+ doped CaLaNbMoO8 phosphors has a strong absorption in near UV region and two sharp emission peaks in the visible region. The yellow (575nm) and blue emissions (487nm) upon UV excitation resulted from the forced electric dipole transition of 4F9/2→6H13/2 and the magnetic dipole transition of 4F9/2→6H15/2 respectively. The emission colors of all the doped samples are located in the white light region. Therefore, Dy3+ doped CaLaNbMoO8 can serve as a promising candidate for single-phase white-light emitting phosphor under near UV excitation.
