Abstract
The basal metabolism of 20 patients of pulmonary tuberculosis in prison was studied in September and October 1953.Results obtained were as follows:1) The averages of their basal metabolism were 32.1-35.1 Cal. per sq. m. per hr., which was lower than the standard value of Japanese 36.7 Calories by 4.3-12.5%.2) Their caloric consumption was 1580 Calories per day.
