Abstract
Amino acid composition, terminal amino acid residues and carbohydrate components were analyzed for purified β-parotin. Seventeen amino acids, except methionine comparing with parotin, were found in β-parotin and N-terminal amino acid was aspartic acid. C-terminal amino acids of β-parotin were alanine and serine, and, β-parotin was considered to be a glycoprotein containing hexose and hexosamine.Qualitatively, no difference between active and inactive forms of β-parotin was found out in the amino acid and carbohydrate composition.
