Abstract

The surfactants used were dibutyl ester of sodium sulphosuccenic acid (BSS), sodium salt of secondary alkyl sulphate containing seventeen carbon atoms (SAS), sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS), and alkyl phenyl ether of polyethylene glycol (Triton X-100). All of these were of a high degree of purity, i.e., even > 99%. Benzene and KC1 were AnalaR grade chemicals. Doubly distilled water was used throughout and the measurements of interfacial tension were made by drop volume technique using an AGLA micrometer syringe. The interfacial tensions are good or slightly better than 4-0.5%.
