Students as Agents of Islamic Technopreneurship in the Digital Era: Evidence from Islamic Higher Education in Indonesia
The rapid development of digital technology has created new opportunities and challenges in higher education, particularly for Muslim students who are expected to integrate Islamic values with entrepreneurial practices. This study analyzes students as agents of Islamic technopreneurship in the digital era by examining the influence of digital literacy on Islamic entrepreneurship. The research employed a quantitative descriptive design with linear regression analysis, involving 48 first-year students from the Early Childhood Islamic Education (PIAUD) and Islamic Education Management (MPI) programs at STIT Nusantara Bekasi who participated in the 2025 orientation program themed “Independent and Visionary Students: Building Islamic Entrepreneurship Based on Halal, Sunnah, and Local Wisdom in the Digital Era. Data were collected through Likert-scale questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics, normality tests, homogeneity tests, and linear regression. The results show that the classical assumptions of normality and homogeneity were met, supporting the validity of the regression model. Furthermore, the findings reveal that digital literacy significantly influences Islamic entrepreneurship, with a contribution of 20.1%. This indicates that students’ digital competencies positively strengthen entrepreneurial values such as honesty, trustworthiness, and social benefit. The study concludes that students play an essential role as agents of Islamic technopreneurship, capable of integrating digital innovation with halal business principles and local wisdom. Practically, the results emphasize the importance for higher education institutions to enhance curriculum and training programs that merge digital skills with Islamic ethical values, thereby preparing competitive and visionary Muslim technopreneurs for the global marketplace.

In the contemporary era of globalization, Islamic education faces the critical challenge of preserving its distinct identity while effectively adapting to modern demands. This study addresses this challenge by analyzing the integration of Qur'anic values within Sunan Drajat's Pepali Pitu teachings and evaluating their relevance as a local Islamic heritage for Islamic education management. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach based on library research, the study utilized primary data from Pepali Pitu quotations and Qur'anic verses, supplemented by secondary literature on Islamic education, local wisdom, and value-based management. Findings reveal that the seven moral maxims of Pepali Pitu, encompassing social, spiritual, and ethical values, are substantively aligned with Qur'anic principles. These principles are demonstrated to serve as a foundational value system for managing Islamic educational institutions, particularly in shaping leadership models grounded in spirituality, social responsibility, and managerial ethics. The study underscores that local wisdom, exemplified by Pepali Pitu, need not be abandoned amidst global shifts; instead, it offers a strategic framework for developing Islamic education systems that are both deeply rooted in identity and adaptable to contemporary challenges. This integration provides a pathway to preserving traditional roots while ensuring global relevance.

Many historians and scholars have embraced the concept of ""tradition vs modernity,"" arguing that Islamic educational institutions play a minor role in Muslim civilization's intellectual development. Despite the fact that portrayals of Islamic educational institutions, such as madrasas, as legacies of medieval antiquity are still popular in public discourse, numerous historians, philosophers, and scholars have debated this concept over the years. This research is a comparative study to explore the modern Islamic educational reform in Islamic higher education in Tunisia and Indonesia. As well as its contribution to development. The purpose of this study is to answer what are the explorations of educational reform in Indonesia and Tunisia's higher education? What is both countries' contribution to the development of Islamic education? The study was conducted using a qualitative method with an historical approach. The historical books of colonialism in Indonesia and Tunisia were used to collect data for the exploration of Islamic educational reform in Islamic higher education. Data also includes journals, articles, books, news, and international data that are relevant to the theme. The findings of the study show that modern reform is impacted by the colonial system in Indonesia, which allowed faith-based schools to take control of the schools. Islamic higher education in Indonesia is growing with modern ideas and has a dualistic system. While in Tunisia, of the French colonial type, they tried to get rid of all Islamic education because many Islamic higher education or madrasas were gotten rid of. As a result, following the end of colonialism, Islamic higher education in Tunisia now consists of just one and only Zaitunah University as part of Islamic civilization. This paper expects that by providing insight into colonial-era transformations, current and future generations of educators will recognize their significance and help to reintegrate an Islamic worldview, epistemology, and ethics into higher education development.

The transformations of Islamic higher education in Indonesia have occurred since the establishment of STI to PTAIN, then IAIN and UIN. It has tremendous impact on the implementation of models of Islamic studies. At early stage of development, Islamic higher education in this country tends to follow a normative-idealistic approach of Islamic studies due to the huge influences of many Middle Eastern graduates. However, changes of Islamic studies approach come to exist when the Western graduates bring non-scriptualistic methodologies and multidisciplinary approach in Islamic studies. If compared to Malaysia, the two poles of Eastern or Western and Islamic or non-Islamic higher education types have been integrated with the paradigm of Islamization of knowledge. Recent development indicates that Malaysian and Indonesian universities have intensified their mutual cooperation through U to U or G to G Memorandum of Understanding. There are several ways of encounters, namely teacher (or lecturer) and student exchanges, literature line, bilateral cooperation, and informal factors. With the closer link between the two people of these countries, the bonds between Islamic studies connecting the two countries have become closer.

This study explores the integration of local wisdom into outcome-based education (OBE) within Indonesian higher education. Given the increasing global emphasis on OBE, it is crucial to understand how local cultural knowledge can be embedded into the curriculum while maintaining alignment with international standards. The research uses a qualitative approach with a systematic literature review (SLR) method to analyze relevant academic articles, reports, and institutional documents. This approach allows for a comprehensive understanding of how local wisdom has been integrated into OBE frameworks, thereby identifying key challenges and potential benefits. The findings highlight that OBE has been successfully adopted in technical fields, but its integration into nontechnical disciplines remains underdeveloped. Local wisdom was found to enhance curriculum relevance, foster deeper student engagement, and contribute to students’ social responsibility. However, challenges such as institutional resistance, lack of faculty training, and curricular rigidity hinder the widespread adoption of OBE that includes local wisdom. This research contributes to the existing literature by proposing a more flexible OBE model that can incorporate local knowledge without compromising global educational standards. The study offers practical insights for higher education policymakers and educators on how to integrate local wisdom to create a more culturally responsive and meaningful curriculum. Future research should focus on creating specific frameworks for assessing local wisdom within OBE and exploring its application in more technical disciplines. Keywords: outcome-based education (OBE), local wisdom, Indonesian higher education, curriculum design, cultural integration.
