Abstract

Silver niobium sulfide, mgo.6NbS2, Mr = 223.48, hexagonal, P63/mmc, a=3354(1), c = 14-431 (1) ,/k, V = 140-59 (6)/~3, Z= 2, Dx = 5.279 g cm -3, A(Mo K~) = 0.71073/~, /z = 93 cm- 1, F(000)=203.9, T=295 K, RF=0037 for 335 observed reflections with I_> 3.00-(/). This singlecrystal study confirms the space-group symmetry known from powder data. The structure is based on NbS2 sandwiches, between which Ag is statistically distributed in the tetrahedral holes.
