Abstract
The changes in microstructure and mechanical properties of Equal Channel Angular Pressing (ECAP) processed Aluminium Magnesium alloy at different channel angles (900, 1200) were discussed in this paper. Ultrafine grain of A5083 was produced by severe plastic deformation method using ECAP. Al 5083 has good formability due to excellent ductility. It has proven itself as a lightweight, durable and affordable material that allows going faster speeds. The microstructure, fracture behaviour was investigated by means of optical microscope and Scanning Electron Microscope. Mechanical properties of the specimens were evaluated under both channel angles. Tensile Strength, Misorientation angle and hardness were compared. Results reveal that 1200 processed samples posses lower strength than 900 channel angle. ECAP was performed at Route A with the radius of curvature of 200 up to four passes. In both the cases the strength increases after ECAP passes but higher the value was obtained in 90°Channel angle.
