Abstract
Using synchrotron radiation a powder x-ray diffraction of one-dimensional bis (1, 2-benzoquinonedioximato) platinum (II), Pt (bqd) 2, has been studied up to 10 GPa under quasi-hydrostatic and hydrostatic conditions. The strong (200) and (110) lines of Pt (bgd) 2 are observed in the low angle region. A new diffraction line appears between (200) and (110) lines above 1. 7 GPa under quasi-hydrostatic condition. The resistivity of Pt (bgd) 2 rapidly decreases with pressure up to 2. 4 GPa, and then increases drastically with pressure up to ca. 8 GPa. The origin of the structural anomaly of Pt (bqd) 2 is discussed.
