Abstract
The effect of Ni doping concentration on the structural and optical properties of ZnO is discussed. The X-ray diffraction pattern reveals that there is a secondary phase formation in Ni doped ZnO synthesized through combustion synthesis method. The crystallite size and particle size obtained from XRD are confirmed by the data obtained from HRTEM. These are in nanometer range. The good crystallinity is explained by the Scherrer rings.SEM morphology implies flake like structure. The chemical composition and the purity of the sample is determined using the EDS. The photoluminescence (PL) indicates that there is a shift in the longer wavelength side. The PL intensity and the optical band gap of ZnO changes with Ni doping concentration. The optical band gap can be tuned with the Ni ion doping concentration.
