Abstract
Reflection SHG measurements with fundamental wavelength 532 nm have been carried out on proton-exchanged LiTaO 3 waveguides. The SH signal decreased exponentially with waveguide thickness. The result is interpreted as a strongly reduced nonlinearity in the proton-exchanged layer. An increased signal was observed from annealed samples
