Abstract

A reliable method of measuring stroke volume from an electromagnetic flowmeter recording of aortic root flow in a conscious paced animal is described. An electronic integrator is used which is triggered directly from the pacemaker. This prevents ECG instability from disturbing the process. A method of eliminating the effect of the pacemaker artefact in the diastolic period is also described.
