Abstract
The purpose of this interactive podium presentation is to identify the necessary ‘ingredients’ for successful expansion of a simulation center and integration of simulation throughout your nursing curriculum and offer a ‘recipe’ for success. Necessary ingredients will follow the FEAST format: Faculty Buy-in, Educational concerns, Administrative support, essential Staffing, and Technologic solutions. Each component will be thoroughly described and helpful tips for overcoming challenges related to each component will be shared. The presenters successfully planned, organized and managed the expansion of a high fidelity simulation center and integrated high fidelity scenarios throughout every course of an undergraduate curriculum in an academically sound manner within three weeks after opening the center. A standardized approach to scenario development based upon the simulation literature was utilized and outcome data were collected after each experience. Results of the data analysis will be shared. The three presenters will share their unique experiences related to their roles: Director, Simulation Specialist, Simulation Technician. Topics such as creating the business plan, mission, vision, fund-raising, marketing, high tech training, and winning the support of administration will be discussed. The team will answer questions in an effort to help others with similar projects.
