Abstract

A unique approximation function of d- and q-axes inductances for Synchronous Reluctance Motors (SynRM) is shown. This approximation function has some excellent features: continuous and differentiable over the entire current range, taking into account cross-magnetic saturation, and satisfying the reciprocity relation of mutual inductance. It is also possible to perform current calculation by an equivalent inverse inductance function based on repeated calculation. Using this function, the authors derive a strict mathematical model for simulating various transient performances. Experimental and simulation results on a 1.1kW flux-barrier SynRM validate the proposed method.
