Abstract

The Texsol method mixes continuous synthetic fiber with granular soil and compacts the mixture, which is provided with some cohesion and hence high shear resistance. In an attempt to improve such a soil mixed with continuous threads, a small amount of cement was added to it ranging from 0.1 to 1.0% of the dry weight of the sand. Direct shear strength and permeability of such specimens were investigated in the laboratory. It was found that the strength increased significantly while the permeability also increased slightly. It is hoped that improvements as such bring more resistance and durability to earth structures consisting of such a reinforced soil.
