Abstract

In recent years, trolleybus transport is undergoing technological transformation from catenary-based electric public transport to flexible electromobility platform based on ‘hybrid-trolleybuses’ with batteries. The article presents an analysis of state-of-the-art of trolleybus transport in Poland, including three urban areas. The research was conducted within TROLLEY 2.0 project. An analysis of quantitative data has been carried out in connection with the usage and economics of selected trolleybus operators. Additionally, an in-depth analysis of strategic documents adopted by the local authorities of those cities of Poland which have an operating trolleybus network was conducted. It leads to a conclusion that the quantitative and qualitative development of trolleybus transportation in Poland took place especially after EU accession.
