Abstract

Tuberculosis is a disease that is contagious and can make stigma. The stigma gained by Tuberculosis clients is curse disease and poor people disease. This study aims to identify feelings that are felt and experienced by child Tuberculosis clients so that appropriate interventions can be carried out. Qualitative research methods were chosen because this study tried to explore the stigma and discrimination of child clients with Tuberculosis in Jember. Participants in this study were 5 participants. The results showed that the stigma and discrimination of child Tuberculosis clients in Jember that the response when diagnosed was sad because of being exposed to an infectious disease, the label of discrimination came from siblings, neighbors, and schools. The form of discrimination that occurs is knowing the closest person, the separation of places to eat, and seating in school. The perceived way of stigma is curse disease and infectious diseases. The cause of stigma is because people around feel afraid, the impact felt by participants is often alone, sad, angry, and sometimes crying. An effort needs to be made to prevent or minimize the stigma of Tuberculosis clients. Screening can be done as a way to identify the presence/absence of self-stigma in newly diagnosed and those who have undergone treatment.

Tuberkulosis adalah infeksi kronis yang dapat menyebabkan stigma bagi pasien. Stigma ini akan menjadi penghalang untuk akses ke pelayanan kesehatan dan menurunkan kualitas hidup pasien tuberculosis (Moya & Lusk, 2013). Penelitian yang dilakukan oleh Duko menyatakan bahwa sebanyak 41,5% pasien tuberkulosis paru mengalami kecemasan, dan 43,4% mengalami depresi (Duko et al, 2015). Pasien tuberkulosis memiliki kualitas hidup yang rendah karena depresi yang dialami pasien dan diperparah oleh stigma negatif terhadap penyakit (Somma et al, n.d.). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui stigma klien anak dengan tuberkulosis paru di Jember yang dapat digunakan sebagai landasan dalam mengembangkan intervensi keperawatan yang tepat dan sebagai tindakan pencegahan untuk mencegah putusnya pengobatan pada klien anak. Stigma dan diskriminasi pada klien anak dengan TB adalah pengalaman hidup yang akan dieksplorasi menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif melalui pendekatan fenomenologis. Kriteria untuk peserta dalam penelitian ini adalah klien anak-anak tuberkulosis pada usia sekolah (6-12 tahun), anak-anak yang bisa berbahasa Indonesia, anak-anak yang betah di rumah dengan keluarga, dan keluarga yang menyetujui Persetujuan Informed. Penelitian ini telah melewati persetujuan etika No 206/ UN25.8/KEPK/ DL/2018 di Universitas Jember
