Abstract
The paper presents basic development trends of modern steam power units. Basic methods of efficiency increase applied in high-efficiency coal-fired power units with supercritical steam parameters are presented. Advanced methods of efficiency boost, like increase of steam parameters, modification in model structure or implementation of cutting-edge technologies are considered Changes in construction materials used in boilers and turbines as well as innovative solutions used in these machinery are characterized.
