Abstract
We review the current status of black hole–neutron star and neutron star–neutron star binary merger calculations, focusing on recent results about gravitational wave signals and the characteristics of merger remnant. We describe a number of related topics, including the construction of quasi-equilibrium data and semi-analytic treatments that yield important information about these systems. Techniques for performing general relativistic hydrodynamics calculations are described and their implementation in current codes is summarized.
