Abstract

Summary 1. A general survey of the findings in fifteen cases of status marmoratus is presented. 2. A history of birth trauma in the majority of cases and of meningitis or encephalitis in a few instances represent the outstanding etiological factors. 3. The clinical and pathological findings are at variance with the concept of a disease entity. 4. The specific marbled pattern of the lesion is considered as the effect of some disturbance in the Galenic venous system, at least in cases of birth trauma.
