The article provides a statistical and economic analysis of the development of the Italian tourism industry in the context of the formation of its national brand and identifies the role of the gastronomic segment as a factor in increasing the country’s brand attractiveness. Based on official statistical data, the dynamics of tourist flows in Italy in the period 2018–2024, the volume of spending on international tourism, as well as quantitative indicators of the country’s attendance by major donor markets in 2024 are considered. The tourism industry in Italy continues to develop every year, and tourism indicators are constantly increasing. Every year, the country is visited by more and more foreign tourists who are interested in getting to know the country. It is tourists who form modern statistical indicators with which you can analyze changes in the industry. The impact of the tourism sector on the formation of Italy’s gross domestic product in 2019–2024 was analyzed, as well as the change in the tourism industry development index (TTDI) for 2019, 2021 and 2024. The tourism sector in Italy plays an important role in the formation of the gross domestic product indicator, which is reflected in the general state of the country’s economy. According to the data, the Travel & Tourism Development Index (TTDI) for Italy demonstrates certain dynamics, due to fluctuations in the component indicators that form the overall index. Particular attention is paid to the study of gastronomic tourism as a promising direction for the development of the tourism sector. Growth trends and a forecast for the value of the Italian gastronomic tourism market for 2020–2027 (in billion US dollars) were determined. In the context of ensuring the quality of gastronomic products, the dynamics of the Global Food Security Index (GFSI) of Italy in 2018–2022 were analyzed and the country’s positions were compared with the leading countries of the world in the food security rating in 2022. Additionally, the dynamics of the number of establishments awarded Michelin stars in 2018–2024 were considered, which reflects the level of development of the gastronomic industry and its contribution to strengthening the image of Italy as a world center of culinary culture. The results obtained make it possible to comprehensively assess the relationship between the development of the tourism industry, the gastronomic segment and the formation of the country’s national brand, as well as to outline potential areas for further strengthening Italy’s competitiveness in the global tourism market.

  • Yang Yue + 1 more

The ecological environment provides good environmental conditions for the development of the tourism industry, and the development of the tourism industry also plays a vital role in the ecological environment, and the dependence of the tourism industry on the ecological environment leads to a complex interactive relationship between the two. Therefore, it is crucial to study the coordinated development relationship between the tourism industry and the ecological environment. This study takes 2012-2019 as the time span to construct the Pressure-State-Response (PSR) model framework of the coupling and coordination mechanism between the tourism industry and the ecological environment in Hubei Province. Comprehensively using the entropy value method, the coupling coordination degree model method, and statistical software such as SPSS, ArcGis, Excel, etc., an empirical analysis was done on the integrated development of ecological environment and tourism industry in Hubei Province, and the relationship between the two was explored. The purpose of this study is to reveal the coupling development and dynamic trend between the tourism industry and the ecological environment, and to provide insights for the realization of the coordinated sustainable development of the tourism industry and the ecological and vibrational environment in Hubei Province, as well as in regions with the same industrial characteristics. The results show that the coupling index of tourism industry and ecological environment system in Hubei Province has developed steadily since 2012, and the coordination index shows a general upward trend fluctuation. However, the coordination effect of various factors between the tourism industry and the ecological environment system in Hubei Province is not obvious enough. The coupling level between the tourism industry and the ecological environment is low. Based on the analysis results, the contradictions existing in the coordinated development of the tourism industry and the ecological environment in Hubei Province are analyzed, and countermeasures are proposed to solve them, aiming to promote the high-quality and deep integration of the ecological environment and tourism industry in Hubei Province. More detailed interaction mechanisms and paths between the tourism industry and the ecological environment protection will be further explored in the future.

  • Xiaoyu Weng + 1 more

Under the goal of achieving "carbon peak" and "carbon neutrality", green and low-carbon transformation is one of the important directions for the high-quality development of the tourism industry. A low-carbon economy can promote the green development of the tourism industry, stimulate national demand for green tourism, and force tourism enterprises to upgrade their products. The deep integration and development of low-carbon economy and tourism industry is an inevitable choice of the times. China should take green and low-carbon consumption as the breakthrough point, integrate the concept of low-carbon economic development, achieve green development of tourism industry, and innovate the path of green and low-carbon development of China's tourism industry.

How business environment shapes urban tourism industry development? Configuration effects based on NCA and fsQCA
  • Aug 3, 2022
  • Frontiers in Psychology
  • Hui Zhang + 1 more

The optimization of the business environment helps to create a good market ecological environment and promote industrial development. Based on the theory of institutional complexity, this study constructs the evaluation index system of China's urban business environment and analyzes the influencing factors using the NCA method. It is found that there is no necessary condition for a single element to constitute the high-level development of the tourism industry, but improving public service, total market volume, and innovation environment play universal roles in promoting the high-level development of the tourism industry. Using fsQCA for configuration analysis, two business environment configuration paths with high-level development of the tourism industry are obtained, which shows that there is no single path to promote the development of the tourism industry. In addition, the antecedent paths of high- and low-level tourism industry development are not the opposite, presenting an asymmetric causal relationship. The above findings reveal the realization path of the business environment for the development of China's urban tourism industry. Under the logic of multiple systems, cities can find the business ecological environment that best matches the development of the local tourism industry.

  • MIR (Modernization. Innovation. Research)
  • O A Burukina

Purpose: the article aims at substantiating the applicability of project management methodology and tools to the tactical and strategic development of the tourism industry at both the global and national levels of economic development. The author sees the possibility of sustainable development of the tourism industry on the basis of a systems approach to improving the functioning of tourism enterprises using the tools and methods of project management. Taking into account the current contribution of tourism to the global economy and the national economies of many countries, the problem of sustainability of tourism enterprises and national tourism industries in general seems to be one of the foundations for solving the problems of sustainable development included in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Methods: the study was conducted on the basis of a systematic approach with the use of logical and comparative analysis of various types of project management methodology potentially applied to tourism projects both for solving operational tourism problems and for the strategic development of tourism industries, as well as the method of structural-functional modeling aimed at laying the foundation for the tourism project management methodology. Results: the problem of sustainability of the tourism industry – the leading sector of the national economies of many countries and the global economy as a whole – has been considered using a systematic approach. An attempt was made to prove the applicability of the project management methodology and tools to the tourism industry and the dependence of the sustainable development of the tourism industry, both at the local and national levels, on more effective management of processes, programs and portfolios based on a systems approach and project management as a method to improve tourism firms’ operations. The methodology of project management in tourism as a driving force for social, economic and cultural change is considered as the basis for successful implementation of projects to ensure benefits for all stakeholders: tour operators, consumers of tourism projects, local communities and all companies involved in tourism projects. Conclusions and Relevance: currently, the tourism industry faces a situation in which tourism projects are implemented in the context of reactive risk and change management with the almost complete absence of proactive change management, which adversely affects the quality of tourism projects and greatly hinders the development of national tourism industries in general. The proposed concept of applying the project methodology based on the author’s model of project management in tourism, the model of the tourism project and the model of TMBOK (tourism management body of knowledge) provides for a system of measures necessary for integrating the project management methodology into the practice of tour operators for the further sustainable development of all tourism business stakeholders.

Research on the coupling and coordinated development of Guangxi's tourism industry, new urbanization and environmental health system in the post-epidemic era.
  • Jul 12, 2024
  • Frontiers in public health
  • Qiuli Meng + 3 more

As one of China's sunrise industries, tourism has always been the engine to promote the development of the national economy, and in 2018, the annual income of China's tourism industry exceeded 5 trillion yuan unprecedentedly. In recent years, the traditional extensive production mode has inevitably brought about problems such as environmental pollution and public health threats, while helping the development of new urbanization, thus triggering a series of challenges in the environmental health system. The tourism industry, new urbanization, and environmental health system three cooperate and promote each other, the coordinated development between them for economic growth, new urbanization development, environmental protection, and public health play a vital role, in the post-epidemic era is a special period of historical opportunities, the public's focus from the original sacrifice of environmental health in exchange for economic growth model began to green, low-carbon sustainable development mode, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region as a tourism resource endowment rich region, It is of positive significance to explore the coupling degree and coordination between the tourism industry, new urbanization and environmental health system, and put forward targeted practical enlightenment, which is of positive significance for promoting the sustainable development of tourism industry. Taking Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region as a case study, this paper constructs three comprehensive evaluation index systems of the tourism industry, new urbanization and environmental health system, and analyzes and compares the weights of various indicators in the three fields of tourism economy, new urbanization and environmental health system in Guangxi by using the entropy weight TOPSIS method. The coupling coordination model was used to measure the coupling degree and coordination degree of the tourism industry, new urbanization and environmental health system construction in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region from 2009 to 2021. The empirical results show that the weights of various indicators change with the development of the social economy. The comprehensive efficacy index of Guangxi's tourism industry has increased year by year for 11 consecutive years; At the end of the evaluation period, after the outbreak of the new crown epidemic, the evaluation index of the tourism industry, new urbanization and environmental health system all showed a downward trend to varying degrees. Before the pandemic, the coupling coordination type of the three subsystems generally experienced a transformation of "moderate dissonance-reluctant coordination-primary coordination-intermediate coordination," but the overall development level was still poor. After the outbreak of the new crown epidemic, the coupling and coordination between the three has been reduced to a state of poor coordination. Because of the above research conclusions, this study proposes to make full use of the important time node of the post-epidemic era and proposes to actively promote the development of the tourism industry, promote the upgrading of the industrial structure, use digital empowerment of the economic form, optimize the environmental health system and other targeted countermeasures to keep the coupling degree and coordination between the three within a reasonable range. This ensures the sustainable development of social systems in the region. This study has made some contributions to the development of high-quality tourism and a healthy environment. First of all, it enriches the content of the environmental health system. This study takes the ecological environment and atmospheric environment in the environmental health system as the entry point and adds the index content of the environmental health evaluation system, which provides a certain supplement for the relevant research on the environmental health system strength. Secondly, the relationship between the tourism industry, new urbanization and environmental health is analyzed and into a unified theoretical framework. This study takes the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, which is rich in tourism resources, as a case study site, and innovatively explores the coupling and coordination relationship among the tourism industry, new urbanization and environmental health system in the case site. Finally, it provides targeted countermeasures for the sustainable development path of the three systems of tourism industry, new urbanization and environmental health in the case site in the future. It is of positive practical significance to compare the coupling and coordination degree between the three, realize the coordinated, orderly, and healthy development of the three in the region, and provide operational suggestions for the upgrading of the tourism industry structure, the benign development of new urbanization, and the formulation of environmental health system policies.
