Abstract

In 1948, Partisan Review, which seldom included illustrations, did so with photographs of Willem de Kooning's black-and-white paintings from his then-current one-man show, his first in New York City. I think that there was not an accompanying text, although there may have been a piece in that issue by Clement Greenberg-but not about Willem.
