Abstract
We present Stark effect measurements of single terrylene and DBATT molecules embedded in the Shpol'skiı̆ matrix n-hexadecane. Upon fast changes of a strong electric field, most single-molecule lines show slow creeping toward a new equilibrium position. The origin of this relaxation effect is not clear at present, yet, it seems that there are at least two contributions with different time constants.
