Abstract

Synthetic porphyrin influence on the staphylococcal bacteriophage infectiousability has been studied in the bacteriophage - host bacterium model system. There has been shown that 10 mkM of zinc and bismuth tetraquinolinylporphyrin complexes are characterized by antiphage activity under the dark conditions. The stud- ied (0,1, 1 è 10 mkM) concentrations of protoporphyrin IX and tetrapyridylporphyrin bismuth complexes decreased the bacteriophage infectious ability. After photoactivation the bacteriophage ability of S. aureus cell lysis was suppressed by all compounds on30 70 %. Under the dark conditions staphylococcal bacteriophage inactivation has been observed in 24 hours after porphyrin inoculation in the incubation medium, but in the presence of light activation - in 20 min.
