Abstract
Prosumers have been recognized as the electricity system users and the electricity market participants since 2021 by the regulations of the Republic of Serbia. Among others, households, both in individual and collective housing facilities, are given the opportunity to acquire prosumer status, which enables them to achieve savings in monthly electricity costs and contribute to reducing environmental pollution and slowing down global warming. In this paper, residential communities were analysed as prosumers. The method of acquiring prosumer status for residential communities is described, starting from the basic idea, through the regulation of mutual relations between the members of the residential community and the conclusion of the supply contract to the construction and connection of the production facility to the power system. In addition, the method of electricity billing for the prosumer that is a residential community is shown in the paper. As a conclusion, proposals for additional savings for prosumers who are residential communities were given, as well as the models for improving their status.
