Abstract

Stable and critical modes of heat and mass transfer are studied along with the kinetics of oxidation of a tungsten conductor heated by electric current as a function of the initial thickness of an oxide film and geometric dimensions of the conductor. The critical values of current strength are determined, at which stable high- and low-temperature states of the tungsten conductor in air are observed.
